You can participate in as many sports as your time and your schedule permits, a practice which sets the Senior Games apart from any other competition.

Early Bird Registration

Individual, Doubles and Foursomes:

Save $5 on your Basic Registration Fee if your registration form, along with signed and dated Participant’s Agreement, and payment are postmarked by July 29, 2011.

Recreational Softball Teams:

Pay only $175 per team if your team’s registration form, along with signed and dated Individual Participant’s Agreement for each team member, and payment are postmarked by July 16, 2011.

Registration Deadline

To allow sufficient time for processing and scheduling, all registrations must be postmarked by August 15, 2011. Registration after the deadline date is at the discretion of the Commissioner for that sport. Late registrants are not guaranteed a t-shirt.

Fees:

There are two main types of fees: Registration Fees and Sports Fees. The $20 Registration Fee helps offset administrative expenses such as; T-shirts, food costs, programs, medals, emergency medical personnel and equipment, printed materials and other expenses.

The Sports Fee for most events is $5 per event.

The 2011 fees for the following sports are:

Bowling ($8), Bridge, Cribbage and ($8 with no registration fee and T-shirts optional for an additional $10). Pinochle, ($10 for a guaranteed 3 days of play also with no registration fee and T-shirts optional for an additional $10). See individual sport for more information.

Additional Onsite Fees for Golf, & Optional Bowling Practice:

§         If you are not a member of Peninsula Golf Club, you will need to pay a Greens Fee of $36 payable on site.

§         The cost of optional bowling practice on Friday, August 26, 2011 of $1.75 is payable directly to Laurel Lanes.

Confirmation of Registration

Upon receipt of your registration form, along with signed and dated Participant’s Agreement, and fees, a confirmation letter will be mailed to you in approximately two weeks. The confirmation letter (or e-mail notification) will include receipt of payment and acknowledgement of event(s) in which the athlete has registered.

If you have not received your confirmation packet in the time indicated, or if any information is incorrect, please contact the Games Headquarters without delay. We will verify receipt of you registration and confirm your information.

Cancellation/Refunds

No refund will be made if an entrant fails to compete or an event is cancelled due to inclement weather or unsafe conditions. Games Officials reserve the right to cancel or postpone outdoor events under these conditions. Games Officials also reserve the right to cancel any event or combine age groups due to insufficient entries. During the Games, contact the Games Headquarters for the latest updates.

Athlete Check-in

Each athlete is asked to check-in at the Games Headquarters, the Port Angeles Senior Center, prior to the events for which they are registered. Check-in starts on Friday at 8 a.m. and continues through the weekend as listed above. Being sure to allow sufficient time to get to their event on time. A photo ID showing date of birth may be required.

At check-in you will receive a t-shirt, plus a complimentary “goodie bag”, including and the latest information regarding events, schedules and special activities.

Dates, Times, and Places

These are listed in each event description and also on the schedule of events and event venues. There are also directions to events that you may find helpful. If you have any questions, please contact the Games Headquarters.

Eligibility

The Olympic Peninsula Senior Games is an open competition for all athletes age 50+, unless otherwise stated, and makes no distinction as to residency. All competitors are welcome.

Any person that has competed at a professional level in any event MUST have been retired from professional competition for at least 20 years in order to be eligible to compete in that event. Professional athletes retired for less than 20 years may participate in any event other than the one(s) in which they competed professionally.

Participant Age

All athletes must be at least 50 years old by December 31, 2011, unless otherwise stated. Doubles partner age groups are determined by the age of the younger partner as of December 31, 2011. Photo ID showing date of birth may be required at check-in.

Individual age divisions are: 50-54, 55-59, 60-64,
65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90-94, 95-99, 100+

If there is only one competitor in an age group, that person will compete in the nearest age group, but will be awarded a medal in the appropriate age group.

Awards

Gold, silver, and bronze medals will be awarded to the first, second, and third place finishers in each event, by age group and gender, unless otherwise stated in individual sport information. Some sports will also award “overall medals". Medals will be presented at the completion of each competition. Any medals not received at the competition venue, will be available for pickup at Games Headquarters, the Port Angeles Senior Center.

Participant's Physical Condition

We urge all participants to fully prepare and condition themselves before attending Games. It is recommended that each participant confer with his/her personal physician prior to this competition. Getting a thorough physical examination prior to registration is also advised.

Event Venues

Events will be held in the greater Port Angeles area and are listed in the event venues section.

Transportation

Participants must provide their own transportation to and from all events and venues.

Equipment

Participants are responsible their personal equipment for the events entered, except as specified on their sport page. See the events page for any additional equipment requirements for a specific event or contact the sport commissioner. Olympic Peninsula Senior Games will not be responsible for any loss or damage of any personal equipment.

Clothing

All athletes must wear the athletic attire usual and customary for the sport(s) in which they are competing.

Insurance

Insurance is the responsibility of each participant. Every athlete should be sure to have proof of insurance in case of an emergency, injury or illness.

Results

At the conclusion of the games, results will be posted at Games Headquarters and in the “Results” section of this website.

We hope you will enjoy your visit to our beautiful port city with its dramatic surroundings and plan on staying with us the entire weekend, whether as a competitor, or to support and cheer on those who are completing.
